Kanwar Yatra

    The Kanvar Yatra (कांवड़ यात्रा) is an annual pilgrimage of devotees of Shiva, known as Kanvarias (कावड़िया) to Hindu pilgrimage places of Haridwar, Gaumukh and Gangotri in Uttarakhand to fetch holy waters of Ganges River. The festivals run during the monsoon month Shraawan (July -August).

    Kaveria or Shiva devotees travel barefoot and wear saffron clothes.
